Canberra 2010

CANBERRA STAMPSHOW 2010 WAS HELD IN MARCH 2010. THIS INFORMATION IS PROVIDED FOR INFORMATION PURPOSES ONLY.

The Philatelic Society of Canberra is holding its 16th Biennial National Convention, better known as Canberra Stampshow 2010. It will be held from 12 to 14 March at the Hellenic Club in Woden, ACT. This has been the venue for the last four exhibitions and has proven to be a very popular venue with dealers, exhibitors and visitors to the exhibition.

The main theme of the exhibition will be the 100th Anniversary of Powered Flight in Australia. This was undertaken by the great magician Harry Houdini in a Voisin biplane at Diggers Rest on 18 March 1910. Whilst there is some disagreement about whether anyone actually flew an aeroplane in Australia earlier than this, it is generally agreed that this was the first controlled powered flight in Australia. The other main theme of the exhibition will be the100th anniversary of the Girl Guides in Australia. We all hope that this anniversary will be as popular as the 100th anniversary of Scouting in 2008.
